Consultation

Meeting to under customer energy usage, future plans and expectations from solar and battery. We will explain the potential benefit of solar specifically to your property

Design

The team create alternative designs options to best meet the outcomes of the consolation. We share all options and have a second consultation to explain the design, benefits and options.

Survey

We do not send a sales person to your home. The surveyor’s remit is to clarify all aspects of the installation. Roof space, shade, array design, wiring routes and equipment location.

Final Design

Survey information reviewed. Any modifications are made and reissued design and quote with a follow up consultation.

MyEnergy Commercial Installation Process

Week 1:

  • After you accept the proposal online, we will issue a contract and invoice you for the initial £100 deposit. We'll begin coordinating the installation process with you.
  • - G99 Inquiry to assess potential costs (this step is automatic for inverters exceeding 3.68KW)
  • - Reserve stock for panels and electrical components
  • - Schedule installation dates for scaffolding, roofing, and electrical teams
  • - Confirm installation dates and procedures

Weeks 3-4:

  • - Execute G98 installations
  • - Provide app software and ongoing support
  • - Generate MCS certificates
  • - Purchase and supply the Insurance Backed Guarantee
  • - Distribute Owners Manuals, Product Data Sheets, and warranty request forms

Weeks 6-7:

  • - Continue with G98 installations
  • - Maintain app software support
  • - Produce additional MCS certificates
  • - Facilitate the purchase and supply of Insurance Backed Guarantee
  • - Issue Owners Manuals, Product Data Sheets, and warranty requests again.
  • Is there a cost for a G99 application?

Unfortunately, there is not a simple answer to this question though we have a simple process.

Each DNO’s processes and cost to make an application may vary. The subsequent cost of work required may also vary.

The cost variant swings from totally free to greater than £600 just to get a quote of further costs which in some cases then exceeded £2,000.

    Our simple process

For every order placed where the inverter is greater than 3.68kw we will immediately submit a G99 application with the DNO on your behalf.

We will share their written response so you may make an informed choice as to how you wish to proceed.

  • Do you inform the DNO about my installation?

Yes, every MCS registered installation must be notified to your DNO. There are two options.

    Option 1

The specified invertor is 3.68KW or less then we notify the DNO on a G98 application which is automatically accepted with zero potential cost.

The G98 no cost option is available for larger inverters where the export KW is limited to 3.68.

    Option 2

For inverters greater than 3.68KW you can choose to make a G99 enquiry/application that, if proceeded with, will allow you to export AC power up to the labelled kw value of the invertor. i.e 5kw, 6kw or 7.5kw.

  • What is a DNO or Direct Network Operator?

A Distribution Network Operator (DNO), is the operator of the electric power distribution system which delivers electricity to most end users. In the case of solar they are the company who receive your domestic generation surplus electric. There are fourteen licensed geographical areas in the UK.

  • How do I receive payment for exported energy?

We issue your MCS certificate within a day of installation. Then you apply directly to your current energy supplier. You must have a smart meter installed at your dwelling. If not it is wise to start the application immediately as the time scale varies depending on location.

  • Are you an accredited installer and able to provide a guarantee?

We have undergone a rigorous vetting process to become MCS-certified installers. We are also HIES Members. Working in accordance with their Consumer Code of Practise means your deposit is protected and you receive an insurance-backed guarantee for workmanship.

  • How long will the installation take?

The scaffolding will be erected two days before the panel installation. The installation of panels and electrical equipment then generally takes one day for most systems. Bigger systems or dwelling with slate roofs may take longer. The system will be commission on the day and provide electric.

  • How soon can you install?

The installation time frame depends on a few factors, 14-day cooling off period, G98 or G99 application. If G98 we may be able to install it within 21 to 28 days typically. G99 application can delay installing by 3-4 weeks.

  • What battery kW should be installed?

For the majority of households between 5 and 6KW of battery is sufficient to significantly increase the Grid Electricity independence / Self Sufficiency (with EESS). In other terms that battery works hard and therefore quickly returns investment. The battery is being charged by the solar and used by the house.

A second battery for most households barely generates any additional solar savings; therefore, we do not recommend it. The benefit can be illustrated in the proposal document and explained by our staff.

Increasing compacity to between 9kw and 17kw of battery storage to be force charged in winter utilising a cheaper overnight tariff is an option for some households though the usage is still limited so the payback period is much longer. The potential other risk is that the overnight tariff differential reduces or disappears.

  • I do not have a south-facing roof what is the solution?

We follow the same principles when designing above. The useable roof space generally increases; therefore, it is about giving options to meet demand. In general, the solution is an increased investment; increase the number of panels to meet demand along with additional scaffolding cost. Another downside is winter month generation is reduced.

  • What is the right size installation for my house?

The key factor in designing your installation is to understand your annual electricity demand.

If you have a small or restricted roof the best option is to maximise power output to meet as much of your demand as possible.

If you have large unrestricted roof the is aim is not to maximise the power output but to give options to meet demand and generate as much useable energy for as much of the year as possible at the best value.
